Frank Warren, notably known for his admiration towards boxing, currently plays a vital role as a boxing promoter for big names like Tyson Fury, Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, and more under Queensberry Promotions.
The founder of BoxNation recently told IFL TV that the fight between Tyson Fury’s half-brother, Tommy Fury, and the YouTuber turned boxing sensation, Jake Paul, is again on as both parties are positive about the negotiation.
“Both sides are really eager to making it happen and I don’t think we’re far off getting it on.”
Warren also discussed the reason for this positivity, which is that the fight will earn a huge purse for the English fighter because he is not giving up the opportunity.
“It’s a life changing money fight for [Tommy], and obviously he wants it. It was on, then he couldn’t get into the States which was a problem. But we’ll get it on, we’re really determined to make it happen. All sides are really good on getting it over the line. We will get it over the line.”
However, Fury was supposed to face the former Disney star in late 2021, but the younger Fury withdrew from the fight because of his training injury and later got replaced by Tyron Woodley.
The fight was later rescheduled for last August, but TNT’s entry into the United States was denied due to his brother’s involvement with an Irish gang leader, so the fight was called off once more, and Jake Paul went on to face Anderson Silva in October.
“Me [Tommy] and my team this morning arrived at Heathrow airport ready for the press conference, ready to fly out, and as soon as I entered the airport, I got pulled to one side and I was told by a Homeland Security officer that my ESTA (travel authorization) had been denied and I wasn’t able to travel to the USA.”
