Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer who became famous on social media, was taken into custody on December 29 in Romania and charged with various crimes, including money laundering, human trafficking, rape, and organized crime. According to information provided by the court, he will be detained for thirty days.
The controversial social media personality and self-described misogynist made an appeal to the court for his release; however, the appeal was denied by a court in Romania’s capital Bucharest. Tate’s detention has been extended, and he will now spend the next thirty days in jail, according to information that was recently disclosed by a representative of the Romanian anti-organized crime agency DIICOT.

The king of toxic masculinity has spent the last five years residing in Romania, and he has been under close surveillance by authorities ever since April of last year due to his concerning social media activity. Romanian authorities arrested Tate and his brother Tristan on Thursday as part of an investigation into the alleged rape and human trafficking.
Tate, who became famous as a result of his offensive and sexist comments made on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok, filed four appeals against the decision made by the judge. His appeals were turned down by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, which stated that “the possibility of them evading investigations cannot be ignored,” and that Tate and his brother could “leave Romania and settle in countries that do not allow extradition.”

The former professional kickboxer, who had his Twitter account suspended, has since regained access since Elon Musk’s takeover. He may be locked up at the moment, but his Twitter feed is still very much alive with news about the case. The internet was buzzing about Tate’s spat with climate activist Greta Thunberg on Twitter before he was arrested.
Many of Top G’s victims have spoken out since his arrest, including former playboy model Carla Howe, who said that she, too, was on the verge of falling into Tate’s trap but managed to escape at the last minute. At least six victims of Tate’s group have been identified, according to DIICOT, who describe the crimes as “acts of physical violence and mental coercion.”
Andrew or his social media handler has made multiple tweets defending Tate’s innocence, with one of them reading: “Going to jail when guilty of a crime is the life story of a criminal … going to jail when completely innocent is the story of a hero.” and another one reading: “The Matrix has attacked me. But they misunderstand, you cannot kill an idea. Hard to Kill.”
