When celebrity boxing first started, some fans were critical while the majority were supportive; today, those celebrities who have transitioned to fighting make more money than the majority of other professional boxers.
As most fighters want to bag a hefty check so they are ready to square off against any big celebrities, even retired fighters are ready to come back from retirement; former UFC light heavyweight title holder Chuck Liddell is one of them.
The Ice Man retired from the UFC in December 2010 after suffering back-to-back losses, but he returned to the ring to take on his longtime rival Tito Ortiz and was defeated, which led to his second retirement in 2018.
But now there is an emerging possibility that Liddell might return to fighting again. Recently, while talking to Inside Fighting, he talked about his comeback.
“Sure, MMA? He [Jake Paul] wants to fight me in MMA now, I’d be down for that. He doesn’t want to fight me though. That’s alright. Good luck with it.”
Citing his age, the 30-21-9 pro MMA record holder said that if he was offered a good sum of money to fight the younger Paul, he would take the offer and come back.
“I’m retired, I’m 53, man. Come on. But again, he’s got no chance. For sure [I’d sign a contract], if he offered enough money, sure.”
Though the undefeated boxer didn’t express his opinion recently but one year back when fan asked him about the possibility on fighting against Liddell, Jake Paul replied,
“This guy Chuck Liddell begged me for a pic after my fight and now is talking s**t on.”
However, Jake Paul recently signed with the PFL and is preparing to make his professional MMA debut this year. Besides, the former Disney star might compete against British YouTuber turned boxer KSI in an exhibition boxing bout later this year.
