Dana White’s Power Slap League was already extremely controversial when it was announced as many didn’t like the concept. Sure the fights might be interesting to look at but direct uninterrupted contact with the face from a fist coming in full force sounds extremely risky. Lo and behold the worst fears of the fans were proven right after photos of a recent event emerged.
The rules of the game are rather simple. The contenders face each other at a slapping distance and continue hitting their opponents until one eventually caves in or gets knocked out. If the established examples of said competition are anything to go by then there are not many rules with fewer among them getting implemented. Having uninterrupted access to a vital part of one’s body is never a bad idea.
Such championships are all the rage in Eastern Europe. Even Dana White admitted to getting the idea from watching similar fighting leagues on social media. White being the businessman he is decided to use his influence and resources to start a high-budget and commercial slapping league of his own before any other competitors get the chance to adapt.
In Romania, the RXF Slap Fighting Championships are quite famous. Recently a clip from that competition saw Sorin Comsa get slapped with an unnerving blow by his opponent Alexandru Gorczyca. Like a True veteran, Cosma not only stood his ground but also drew the attention of the authorities signaling that the move was not legal.
Sorin won the competition, in the end, to take home a $7800 prize money which by western standards is a very low sum. His face on the other hand was left in a gruesome state and many fans unfamiliar with the sport were naturally shocked.

Dana White has been very clear about his stance as he mocked the naysayers saying, âNobodyâs asking you to watch this! Oh, youâre disgusted by it? Watch The Voice.â
He also defended the promotion saying, âWith proper medical attention during and after the fight. These are all the things we need to educate people on, just like we needed to educate people on mixed martial arts.”
