In the 1993/1994 season, Andy Cole played for Newcastle United and set a new record after scoring a total of 34 goals as the Magpies finished third and qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
During the 1994/1995 season, Shearer equaled Cole as the record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League season, scoring a total of 34 goals for Blackburn Rovers.
