Real Madrid is set to give the legendary No.7 shirt to Vinicius Junior, one of their best players as Eden Hazard is expected to leave in the summer.
Real Madrid has a lengthy history of outstanding players wearing the number 7 shirt. Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul, Amancio, Raymond Kopa, Juanito, and Emilio Butragueno are just a few names that have succeeded in this shirt. It is reasonable to say that it is a heavy shirt to wear, and regrettably, Eden Hazard has not been able to do it right despite having all of the talents in the world.
Before joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2019, Hazard had already proven himself as a Premier League star at Chelsea. To say the least, it was a Galactico transfer, as the club broke their transfer record to bring the Belgian magician to the Santiago Bernabeu.
As such he was awarded the No.7 shirt upon his arrival. However, with injuries, fitness issues, and only 6 goals and 6 assists in the very few games he has played, Hazard has disappointed everyone. He has only made 3 appearances this season further proving that he is no longer at his best.
According to Bruno Andrade, Real Madrid will give Vinicius Junior a jersey number change next season. The Brazilian can wear either the number 7 or the number 11.
Vinicius has already proven himself as a Real Madrid superstar in recent years and can be expected to perform for many more years. Last season, he scored the game-winning goal in the Champions League against Liverpool. As a result, it makes sense for the club to assign him a more commercially successful and popular shirt number, such as 7 or 11.

Hazard, on the other hand, will have to wait and see what the future offers. He is anticipated to leave, but he has a year left on his contract. And finding him a new club would be difficult because of his lack of playing time and fitness issues.
Marco Asensio who wears the No.11, while still active in the team though not as a starter, will have his contract expire in the summer. It remains to be seen whether he will renew or leave.
Do you want to watch Vinicuis don the iconic No 7 at Real Madrid? We sure would love to know.
