After joining Manchester United from Real Madrid for a whopping £70 million, Casemiro has established himself as a crucial member of the Reds. However, he has seen the red card twice in just 19 games due to his notorious reputation for making dangerous tackles.
The most recent one came in United’s home fixture with Southampton last Sunday. Following his ugly challenge on Saints midfielder Carlos Alcaraz in the 34th minute, referee Anthony Taylor was not hesitant in reaching into his pockets for the yellow.
The English referee was then advised to take a look at the VAR monitor. After a review, Taylor overturned his initial decision and showed a straight red card to the Brazilian.

Casemiro’s departure from the pitch resulted in United missing out on two important points, as the match ended in a 0-0 draw. United struggled throughout the rest of the match with 10 men, as they failed to find the back of the net.

How did Casemiro react to the red card?
The five-time Champions League winner was visibly disappointed for letting all his teammates down. Following the red card, the Brazilian defensive midfielder will serve a four-match ban. He will be unavailable for United’s games against Fulham, Newcastle, Brentford, and Everton.
Casemiro will still be available for United’s Europa League round of 16 second leg against Real Betis, though. United are currently leading the tie by 4-1, and they are the current favorites to win the title after beating FC Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate.
Casemiro has been one of the best players in the Premier League since his debut for Manchester United. His performance has been crucial to many of the Reds’ recent victories.
The Brazilian scored a brace in United’s 3-1 FA Cup win over Reading. He also found the back of the net on two separate occasions in the Premier League. His first United goal came in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, in which he scored an extra-time equalizer.

Manchester United were willing to appeal Casemiro’s red card after the coach Erik Ten Hag made complaints on poor decisions made by the referee. However, they reached a decision not to appeal for it.
