Orlando Brown Jr. heads to Bengals on four-year, whopping $64 million deal after shockingly leaving former team Chiefs

Heading into the offseason, the Cincinnati Bengals decided to boost their offensive line by signing former Chiefs’ left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. for a massive four-year deal worth $64 million.

The Bengals were in urgent search of a veteran left tackle, and hopefully, after All-Pro lineman Andrew Whitworth, Orlando will be the franchise’s best left tackle.

The Bengals signed Orlando Brown Jr. for a four-year, $64 million contract

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Orlando Brown Jr. has agreed to join the Bengals for a lucrative four-year, $64 million contract, including a $31 million signing bonus, making it the richest deal ever paid for an offensive lineman. Brown will be playing as a left tackle here too, which has been his sticking point over the years.

According to Ian Rapoport, Brown is about to get “67.87% of the $64.092M fully guaranteed, with $42.3M through year two and $49.9M through three”, making him the 17th-highest-paid offensive tackle in the league.

Brown also seemed pleased with the contract as he opened up to Mike Garafolo, saying,” I’m super thankful for the opportunity to carry on my father’s legacy and be a left tackle. It was important to be able to play that position and play for a winning team and a winning quarterback. Who Dey!”

By signing this deal, Orlando Brown Jr., 26 years old, found his third team after spending only two seasons in Kansas City. The Chiefs were on terms with Brown but could not reach a long-term deal. Meanwhile, Brown reported to the training camp by signing a one-year, $16.7 million deal after a brief holdout.

On his first day back at the Chiefs, Brown wished to finish his career in Kansas City; however, it remained unfulfilled.

Before playing for the Chiefs, Brown played three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens after being drafted in the third round in the 2018 NFL Draft after forgoing his senior year.

Brown was primarily at right tackle for Baltimore and asked for a trade to play as a left tackle for fulfilling a promise to his late father, former NFLer Orlando Brown.

The signing of Brown Jr. is undoubtedly a big move for the Chiefs, and the team’s offense is expected to be even more potent with this move in 2023. Brown’s wish also got fulfilled as he wanted to continue his father’s legacy as a left tackle.

Only time will tell if Brown’s move to the Chiefs will pay off, but one thing is certain: fans are excited to see what the talented young player will bring to the team.
