In a recent tirade, Conor McGregor dismissed the possibility of a rematch with former UFC adversary Khabib Nurmagomedov. With whom he has had a longstanding feud since their 2018 bout which he lost.
McGregor criticized Nurmagomedov for being “fat” eyeing to avoid a potential rematch. While simultaneously ruling out a second UFC fight with him.
Following a two-year hiatus, Conor is slated to make a comeback to the octagon against UFC contender Michael Chandler. As part of the upcoming series of The Ultimate Fighter.
With three losses in his last four fights, including a significant defeat against archrival Nurmagomedov, the Irishman is hoping to reinvigorate his MMA career.
Despite their grudge match taking place just two years ago, Nurmagomedov announced his retirement shortly after. However, there has been persistent speculation about a potential rematch between the two fighters.
Conor McGregor: Twitter Antics Continues
McGregor recently took to Twitter to launch a scathing tirade against Nurmagomedov’s entire team, including coach Javier Mendez and manager Ali Abdelaziz.
He first tweeted: “Firaz Zihabi is a little douchebag, Trevor Wittman is a pad man. Javier Mendez is a fat lick a** kick boxer. Mike brown is a smelly p***k, Greg Jackson got caught up, the system of coach Kavanagh is now shining through. In years to come the world will know what we have been at.”
Abdelaziz then responded: “Javier Mendez trained Khabib to beat the s*** out of you and took your souls away. Mike Brown trained Dustin Poirier to level you back-to-back. Trevor is your worst nightmare because you would not even look at Justin, grow up.”
McGregor’s highly anticipated fight against Nurmagomedov garnered the highest pay-per-view sales in UFC history and is widely regarded as one of the most memorable rivalries in the modern era of the sport. Despite Dana White’s attempts to rekindle the fierce feud between the two fighters, Khabib was steadfast in his decision to retire, honoring his father’s wishes.
Who will be Conor McGregor’s next opponent?
Should McGregor choose to face Khabib protege, Islam Makhachev, it could reignite their longstanding rivalry. However, it seems that the Irishman’s next move will be at 170lb, where he could potentially vie for the championship against British fighter Leon Edwards.
I’m going to slice through someone on return. Trust that. And I don’t care who. Line up.
