“Dana White privilege” – a term thrown in the mix by UFC connoisseurs quite often, but hardly did the promotion exhibit anything to directly corroborate that extant term. This time around, however, Colby Covington being handed the number one contender for the welterweight championship has raised more than a few eyebrows. For that, Belal Muhammad revived this term to explain the situation, drawing a certain reference to WWE as well.
Why is Belal Muhammad incensed with Dana White and Colby Covington?
Belal has reasons to be frustrated. In fact, Leon Edwards, the welterweight champion who recently defended his title against Kamaru Usman, himself was baffled by the revelation of Covington as his next challenger. This was where Belal raised his concerns. Like many others, he felt that Covington was not even in the scene to challenge for the championship.
Covington last appeared in the UFC octagon back on March 6, 2022, in a bout with Jorge Masvidal. Which is why, his inclusion in the title mix came out of thin air. UFC commentator Jon Anik also chimed in with his opinions, stating that Covington did not deserve this shot.
The same message echoed in Belal’s enraged tweets. Why Dana was advocating for Covington was beyond Belal. He even compared this dynamic with Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar – a duo that was nefarious for running their errands together; with Heyman eventually cleaning up the mess always. Belal, drawing reference to this relationship, tweeted, “I’m getting real Paul Heyman-Brock Lesnar vibes when he’s trying to sell why Colby deserves it.”

Belal wants to make Colby Covington apologize
After criticizing Dana White’s moves Belal jumped into hot waters, this time with the challenger himself, Colby Covington. Covington apparently threatened to smother Anik to death when he labeled Covington as an undeserving challenger. Belal was bothered by that.
Belal brought up the time Khabib slapped Artem Lovbov to show him his place. ‘Remember the name’ wants to make Covington remember his name by knocking some sense into him. He could not take Covington’s threats against Anik lightly just because Anik spoke his mind. Belal tweeted that he wanted to go to Miami and compel Covington to apologize to Anik in Khabib’s fashion. Whether this feud escalates to a heated passage of altercation is yet to be seen.
Dana White, on the other hand, might take his next steps in a calculated manner, if he continues to face scathing assessments from UFC fighters and commentators.
