More people are training in mixed martial arts and even more practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a result of the UFC. There is a benefit that one may obtain from MMA training that cannot be found anyplace else, even if those individuals never want to compete professionally, One of them being Wiz Khalifa, a well-known American rapper who has partnered with the renowned MMA league PFL. He is also a shrewd businessman. Khalifa has expressed his enthusiasm for MMA on numerous occasions and recently appeared as a guest on Tyson’s podcast, ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson.
Khalifa was questioned by Mike Tyson’s co-host if he believed he could defeat Tyson in a bout. “No,” Wiz Khalifa immediately replied, “No. That sh*t hit me one time bro, my whole body was shut down.” Wiz Khalifa apart from being an avid MMA fan and practitioner is also an active investor in PFL, and he has previously remarked that when he was given the chance to work with them, he simply couldn’t refuse and said yes right away. Talking about his love for the sport and training, The 35-year-old said,
“I’ve been training for like five years now. I don’t know, I f–k with it, it’s just fun,” he said. “It’s cool to learn new sh-t. I think the older you get, you just get into different things like your body just tells you what’s cool and what’s not cool. I started lifting and I went to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer and just naturally they just put me on this program. I’m kind of just open for whatever. Jiu-jitsu, wrestling, striking, it’s whatever, if you want to teach me some sh-t, I’m down to learn.”
Mike Tyson guest Wiz Khalifa on partnering with PFL
The Professional Fighters League, a budding organization that promotes MMA with a distinctive, seasonal framework with playoffs, finals, and million-dollar rewards for the champion of each weight class, was where Wiz made an early-2021 investment thanks to his acumen for business and obsession with MMA. “When the opportunity came up to become an investor in the PFL, I couldn’t pass it up,” Wiz says. “I love the fact that PFL is an alternative to what’s already out there. People should be able to choose what they want to watch and where they want to fight. The fighters who don’t have contracts and want to get notoriety, I see them coming over to the PFL and being huge superstars.”
With YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul also signed to the same organization, it would be interesting to see how the two add to the already growing platform.
