After a nine-month absence, the Brazilian fighter returned to the octagon on January 21 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro. In a fight that lasted less than five minutes, Burns defeated Neil Magny. In less than three months, Durinho defeated Gamebred by unanimous decision on April 8 at the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Florida.

Burns’ desire for a shot at the title is only understandable in the wake of two consecutively impressive wins. The Brazilian fighter wanted a title bout from the UFC President, going beyond simple requests.
“I’d almost say it’s a done deal, Colby vs Leon in London, if I’m not wrong. It’s almost a done deal. I wanna be a backup, I’m going to. I’m not asking. I’m demanding that. ”said Burns.

Leon Edwards, the current welterweight division champion, will face Colby Covington to defend his belt, according to a previous announcement by Dana White. Based on the most recent specific updates, the two may fight in London in July. Burns intends to participate in London and hopes to serve as the title fight’s backup fighter.
“And now I’m demanding I’m going out there. I’m gonna do my training camp for five rounds. I [will] go to London, I’ll be the backup and I’m next in line to fight for the title. Otherwise let me go, my guy. Let me do my thing.” Burns added.
