The Seattle Seahawks finally acquired their long-cherished defensive lineman, former Denver Broncos athlete Dre’Mont Jones, in the early hours of free agency on March 13.
The relationship between the Broncos and Dre’mont went sideways after they refused to include him in the trade with the Seahawks for Russell Wilson last year. Eventually, the Seahawks get their hands on him after one year of patience, no matter what.
Recently, in an interview, the Seahawks’ DE shared his feelings about leaving the Broncos for the Seahawks at the first opportunity.
What did Dre’Mont Jones say about the Broncos?
The 26-year-old seemed pretty exhilarated about joining the 2013 Super Bowl champion, and the history might be a reason for that. The Broncos acquired Russell in exchange for Drew Lock, Noah Fant, and Shelby Harris in the draft picks, but they refused to include him in the trade.
The Seahawks and Dre’Mont both wanted to make the deal, but it was nipped in the bud. In a press conference, he revealed his expression and said, “They should have just traded me from the jump. I was included in the trade. Denver said no.”
“And then, Denver kind of … I don’t want to say that word. But Denver didn’t pay me my proper respects,” the defensive end added. “So, I’m here, because they respected me from the jump.”

The player joined the Broncos after being picked in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft and signing a rookie contract. They might have expected potential from him, but in the end, they had to release him. Before that, he played for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team at the college level.
Jones made 6.5 sacks and completed 47 tackles with 24 solo attempts in 13 games last season. On the first day of free agency, the Broncos listed him as a free agent, and the Seahawks didn’t hesitate to sign him to a three-year, $51.53 million contract.
