“Don’t fucking say that”: Fans stunned as Jon Jones wants retirement after rumoured bout against Stipe Miocic in UFC

Jon ‘Bones‘ Jones cemented his place as the greatest fighter to ever enter the octagon after defeating Ciryl Gane in the very first round to become the UFC heavyweight champion of the world.

After he demolished Gane, the obvious fight was to make war against the greatest heavyweight Stipe Miocic. The fight which at one point was almost booked for international fight week in July has had some impediments lately.

Jones made his heavyweight debut at a pivotal juncture after dominating the light heavyweight division as its greatest champion. Francis Ngannou’s departure from the UFC left the heavyweight division severely lacking in megastar power.

Jones fills that gap perfectly. ‘Bones’ is a seasoned athlete who has competed since the very young age of 20. He appears to have a limited amount of time left at the age of 35. Despite this, Jon Jones looked absolutely fantastic in his heavyweight debut.

Jones’s retirement at this stage of his career will certainly be surprising as he just came back after a three-year layoff. Also according to Dana White, ahead of fighting Gane for the vacant heavyweight title, Jones had signed a new 8-fight contract with the UFC.

Many fans were obviously a bit tensed after Jones’s sudden retirement claims. Although the 35-year-old did clear the air afterward and assured his loyal supporters of a long run within the UFC.

After the Jones tweet went viral many fans were seen expressing their desire to witness the GOAT for an extended period in the comments writing, “Don’t fucking say that” and “Don’t retire we need the goat.”

How did Dana White react to Jon Jones’ retirement tease?

Even after the unexpected delays for this fight, UFC president Dana White is still confident of getting this mega-fight together in front of a massive market. During the ‘UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs. Allen’ post-fight press conference, White talked about the possibility of booking Jones vs. Miocic at the iconic Madison Square Garden.

White said, “As far as I know everything is good and hopefully we have a fight with him and Stipe very soon,” When asked to specify the location for the fight, White agreed with Jones’s proposal of fighting at the MSG “That’s where we’d like to do it”, White concluded.
