Chelsea fans have something to look forward to next season as they await the arrival of RB Leipzig superstar Christopher Nkunku. The French striker was the main man yesterday as he helped his side win a coveted DFB Pokal trophy with a 2-0 victory in the final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Nkunku scored the opener in the 71st minute when he skilfully dribbled past three defenders. Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the victory in the 85th minute when he received an outstanding cross from Nkunku. With a goal and an assist, Nkunku was the man of the match. It was also RB Leipzigs’s second DFB Pokal trophy won in a row.

As it was the last game of the season for RB Leipzig, Nkunku will leave the club this summer to join Chelsea.
When did Chelsea sign him and how much they paid?
Christopher Nkunku had already signed an agreement with Chelsea last year. He also completed his medical there to confirm his transfer. All of this was done in December of last year in a very secret manner. The transfer fee is around the range of €60m, according to Sky Sports Germany.
Back in January 2022, Nkunku signed a new deal at Leipzig. But it had a low release clause fee of €60m which Chelsea activated. It was decided that Nkunku will join in the summer instead of the winter as Leipzig wanted to bolster their chance of being in the top four race. This is also why the deal was kept secret from the fans and the media.
❗️News #Nkunku: He will definitely join #CFC after this season confirmed. Regardless of Chelseas performance this season. No exit option for the player. It’s all done. Long-term contract. Around €60m transfer fee. Official announcement probably after this season. @SkySportDE 🇫🇷 pic.twitter.com/Ctuql9sbpE

The official announcement of the arrival would be made anytime soon. As the season has already ended, the club will no longer have to maintain secrecy.
Even though Chelsea had a dismal season and will not be in European competitions next season, it has no effect on the transfer and as such, Nkunku will join the club.
His transfer came at a time when Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has already spent more than $350 million in the winter.
Can Christopher Nkunku make Chelsea great when he arrives next season?
Christopher Nkunku is a very exciting player and has many qualities that are making Chelsea fans excited.
The France striker has played as Leipzig’s No.9 many times this season. He had a good campaign scoring 23 goals in 36 games across all competitions. Chelsea’s best goal scorers this season were Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz, who both only scored nine times, emphasizing the need for a clinical attacker for the Blues.
Nkunku also won the Bundesliga Golden Boot award this season with 16 goals. This is despite missing many games due to a long injury issue. This also proves that he can score goals on a consistent basis.
Nkunku is also a good dribbler on the ball and has speed and pace on his list of skills. Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of Chelsea will be pleased to work with someone with this many qualities.
Chelsea fans will be happy to hear this announcement as some good news has arrived after a terrible season.
