Chris Weidman set to return at UFC 292 following recovery from horrendous leg break

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is about to see yet another remarkable comeback this year. After suffering a terrible leg injury that nearly kept him out of the octagon for two years, Chris Weidman is ready to make his comeback.

The past two years have been devastating for Chris. In a recent interview, The All-American expressed how difficult it was to battle the injury by saying, “These last two years have been the hardest years of my life. I don’t want to cry, I’m not going to cry.”

Weidman to face Brad Tavares at UFC 292 in his return fight

The former UFC middleweight champion is now scheduled to fight Brad Tavares at UFC 292 on 19th August at the TD Garden Arena in Boston.

The 38-year-old fighter, who first got the golden strap from Anderson Silva in 2013, also expressed he never thought he’d be able to make it to the octagon ever in his life again.

“I wasn’t sure I was ever going to be able to compete again in anything, and so to able to come out here and put a show for you guys, win or lose, is truly a dream,” Chris added.

Injuries can be quite horrific for a fighter in mixed martial arts and it is indeed one of their biggest nightmares. Injuries shorten a fighter’s career by a few months or put an end to a fighter’s career completely.

In UFC 261, Chris Weidman suffered a terrible leg injury that ‘almost’ ended his professional career. In his bout against Uriah Hall at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, the middleweight fighter broke his leg.

The 38-year-old fighter is yet to return to combat sports due to his protracted rehabilitation. The MMA community is eagerly awaiting his return as a result.
