Arman Tsarukyan can’t get ranked fights still makes bold claims on ex-UFC champ Charles Oliveira: ‘‘Smash him, easy’’

Former champion saw an end to his long winning streak after getting defeated by Islam Makhachev. The Brazilian did pick up a dominating win against top contender Beneil Dariush but lightweight prospect Arman Tsarukyan does not seem impressed.

Tsarukyan (19-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) is eagerly preparing for his comeback this Saturday, slated as the co-main event of UFC on ESPN 46.

Arman Tsarukyan next fight?

Joaquim Silva (12-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC), is Arman’s next opponent in a highly anticipated lightweight bout that will be broadcast on ESPN following preliminary matches on ESPN2 and ESPN+.

As the fight approaches, Arman was questioned about his perspective on Oliveira’s recent victory over Beneil Dariush, achieved by a first-round TKO at UFC 289.

Tsarukyan, who is 26 years old, initially anticipated Dariush to emerge victorious and secure a title shot against Islam Makhachev at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi this October.

However, with Beneil’s recent setback, Arman believes that the path to championship contention has become significantly more challenging for the 34-year-old fighter, considering his age.

Tsarukyan’s statement suggests that he perceives Dariush’s championship aspirations as dwindling, casting doubt on his ability to make a comeback in the near future.

Arman Tsarukyan’s take on Charles Oliveira

Reflecting on the matchup, Arman expressed respect for Oliveira as a formidable opponent and acknowledged his extensive experience and patient approach.

However, Tsarukyan boldly asserted that facing Oliveira presents an opportunity for him to showcase his skills and dominate the fight effortlessly. In his view, Charles’s fighting style aligns perfectly with his own, making the victory seem even more within reach.

“Charles is a good opponent, a good fighter,” Tsarukyan told reporters at Wednesday’s UFC on ESPN 46 media day. “He has a lot of experience, and he’s patient. It showed what level has Charles. For me, Charles is a present. I’m going to smash him, easy. Because his style for me is the best style.”

While it wouldn’t be wise to totally write off Charles ‘Do Bronx’, Arman is no pushover either. The Georgian has faced off against some of the biggest names in the division including current champ Makhachev, hot prospect Mateusz Gamrot etc. Somewhere down the line, he may actually get to test his might against the former champ.
