Jake Paul has taken a stand, urging heavyweight fighters such as Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Oleksandr Usyk to take more proactive measures in securing significant matchups.
The sport of boxing has experienced disappointment as several high-profile fights have failed to materialize including Tyson Fury’s highly anticipated bout against Oleksandr Usyk and the much-anticipated all-British clash between Fury and Anthony Joshua, leaving many fans frustrated.
Even Anthony Joshua’s proposed fight with Deontay Wilder, which wouldn’t involve any world heavyweight titles, currently doesn’t show any strong sign of materializing.
These missed matchups have created an opportunity for headlines to be made in other divisions and have also brought attention to the emergence of YouTubers entering the sport.
Jake Paul’s remarks on the boxing heavyweight division
As one of the most successful YouTubers-turned-boxers, Jake has voiced his concerns. Emphasizing the need for the elite heavyweights to cease avoiding one another for the betterment of boxing as a whole.
He encourages them to put an end to the practice of “ducking” opponents and prioritize delivering exciting fights to the fans.

“For me the heavyweight division’s in shambles,” Paul said
“But for some reason in the heavyweight division, we’re not getting Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. We’re not getting Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk. We’re not getting Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder, we’re not getting Deontay Wilder vs Andy Ruiz,” he continued.
“Like, what are these guys doing? Come on, let’s make the sport a better place. You guys get paid to fight. So get in there and stop ducking each other,” he further added.
Jake Paul’s boxing resume
At the young age of 23, Jake embarked on his professional boxing journey with a debut match against Ali Eson Gib on January 30, 2020. Displaying his skills in the ring, Paul secured a first-round TKO victory over Gib.
This triumph marked the beginning of a winning streak as he went on to claim five consecutive victories, with three of them ending in stoppages.
While Jake Paul has demonstrated impressive progress in his boxing career. He has encountered only one defeat thus far. In his most recent bout on February 26, 2023, Jake engaged in a non-title contest against British boxer Tommy Fury.
The fight lasted for eight rounds, and the outcome was determined by a split decision, resulting in Paul’s loss. It has been approximately four months and ten days since that event took place.
