Real Madrid lose another long-term player as Spanish winger Marco Asensio embarks on a new journey, after having spent nine years with Los Blancos. He will be playing in the blue-red shirt of Paris Saint-Germain in the upcoming season.
The 27-year-old winger has been with Real Madrid since 2014. Asensio made 289 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 61 goals and adding 29 assists. During his time with Madrid, he won three LaLiga titles, as well as three Champions League titles.
Now, he will be setting foot in the French capital, where he will be joining what is called PSG’s new era.
PSG announce signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid
The signing, which took place a fortnight ago in Paris, has finally been made public by Paris Saint-Germain and Asensio. The transfer was finalised by Luis Campos and Nasser Al Khelaifi, but could not be announced until June 30, the day after his contract with Real Madrid expired and the arrival of the new coach, Luis Enrique, was announced.

Asensio will join PSG as a free agent and sign a contract that pays him €7 million per year through 2026. Luis Enrique has a soft spot for Marco Asensio because of the forward’s significant contributions to the team in Qatar four years ago.
Asensio’s savage answers at PSG presser
Asensio then appeared in a fun-filled interview in the PSG kit. In a video posted from PSG’s official Twitter account, Marco took part in a game called “75 seconds,” where the interviewer asked him as many questions in 75 seconds as possible.
The 27-year-old Spaniard played the game wearing a smile on his face, and produced some interesting answers. Replying to the question, “Favourite PSG legend?” Marco replied: “Zlatan Ibrahimovic,” overlooking the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and even Kylian Mbappe.
Asensio also mentioned Zinedine Zidane when he was asked who he was. Fairly, this was a clear answer, as Marco has been a fan of Real Madrid since his childhood, and Zidane was one of the biggest names in the Galacticos era.
