Aaron Rodgers replacement: Cam Newton names his price to join Jets

Cam Newton, a three-time Pro Bowl quarterback, is expected to join the Jets to replace Aaron Rodgers. This season was supposed to be a game-changer for the Jets. With Aaron Rodgers at the helm, they were expecting to break their playoff drought. However, in the first game, Rodgers appeared, but he got injured and was placed on injured reserve, shattering the dreams of the Jets’ fandom.

Although Jets have Zach Wilson, he’s not someone the team can rely on for the whole season. Recently, it was speculated that the Jets might approach Cam Newton to replace Rodgers and the QB has already named his price.

Cam Newton responds to hypothetical Jets call

Cam Newton, who is currently a free agent, appeared on a new episode of Robert Griffin III’s podcast, RG3 and The Ones, where he was asked about his decision if the Jets approached him.

The quarterback made it clear that he’s not going to settle for a low price. He’ll only accept the offer if the team offers him more than $5.5 million.

“You not about to sit up there and penny-pinch me, bro. I’m not about to sit up here and sign no $5.5 million deal, bro. Those days are over with.”

Newton knows his worth and he’s not going to settle for less. He also emphasized that he is ready to be a part of a team right now which means if the Jets will hit him he’ll consider their offer.

“Because I will tell you, if you don’t think that I could be on a roster right now, I could. But it’s bigger than that to me,” Newton said.

If the Jets are interested in signing Cam Newton they will have to offer him a massive deal. The quarterback has already made it clear that he will not accept any contract if that is below his mentioned price.

Reason for Newton’s “Super Cam” nickname

Cam Newton is called ‘Super Cam’ because of his exceptional football skills. He set the rookie records for rushing yards and passing yards and won the title of Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Newton was the first rookie QB to throw for 4,000 yards in a season and the first to throw for 400 yards in his NFL debut. In 2015, when he was with the Carolina Panthers he was named Most Valuable Player and led the team to the Super Bowl.

He was the first NFL quarterback to achieve more than 2,000 yards as he ran for 2,032 yards in his first three seasons. After making his touchdowns he did a celebration which was similar to Clark Kent as if he’s ripping his shirt to show the Superman vest.

After this celebration, people started calling him Super Cam as if comparing him to Superman. The quarterback himself said that he got this nickname because when he plays people see superheroes in him.

“It’s coming off the notion of everybody sees the superhero in how I play. I’ve gotten the nickname Superman, Super Cam ever since I can remember,” the quarterback said.

Newton also has a very muscular physique with 6’5 height and 245 pounds weight. He towers over other people and dominates them just like superheroes.

Cam Newton can be a great QB choice for the Jets right now. With his exceptional on-field skills and athleticism, he can handle the team and help them achieve the dreams they once had for Aaron Rodgers.
