Adam Copeland Eyes AEW World Title After AEW Worlds End Comeback

AEW’s top athlete, Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge in WWE, was out of action since May 2024 because of a bad leg injury from a Barbed Wire Steel Cage match against Malakai Black at Double or Nothing.

Many fans heard rumors that he would return soon, but the moment kept getting delayed. Finally, he made an epic return at a recent AEW show and had a face-off with AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.

At Worlds End, Adam Copeland made a surprise return to AEW, joining FTR to attack Jon Moxley and his Death Riders. It was announced that Copeland and FTR will face Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta at Dynamite’s Fight For The Fallen on January 1st.

After Moxley retained his title, FTR and Copeland confronted him. Copeland speared Moxley and choked him with a chairpiece before Claudio intervened. Copeland later declared that he would take everything from the Death Riders.

This match marked Copeland’s first since his tibia injury in May. He later shared his goal of facing Moxley in the post-Worlds End media scrum. He said, “My plan is to go after Jon Moxley in a match that you’ve never seen before between two guys who are at the top of their field.”

Adam Copeland laughs about his ‘Wolverine Recovery’

At the post-Worlds End media scrum, Adam Copeland joked that he’s lucky to recover “like Wolverine,” referencing the X-Man’s ability to heal quickly from injuries.

He explained, “It’s one of those deals where, if you watch my career, it’s not out of my character to do insane things. It’s kind of what I do, every once in a while. I’ll get a hair up my ass and decide, ‘Yeah, I’m going to dive through a flaming table, sure.’ That’s just me. It’s kind of hardwired into me. I also think it’s part of why I’ve gotten to where I’ve gotten.”

However, he acknowledged that having children and approaching the end of his career have changed his mindset. But, in terms of recovery, he’s still fortunate, saying, “I recover like Wolverine. Part of that is, I just go after it. The day I can go after it is the day I do it.”
