Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, who is tipped to steal the NFL MVP award away from Patrick Mahomes, has recently had back-to-back victories against the Titans and the Lions with his team. The Ravens currently hold a record of 5-2 in the AFC North and his reputation as a potential MVP in the NFL is growing with each passing week.
This sudden shift in the performance of the 26-year-old has changed the views of an ESPN analyst about him and has also urged the Jets’ QB Aaron Rodgers, to praise him.
Lamar Jackson’s brilliance draws admiration from Rodgers
Lamar Jackson’s performance against the Detroit Lions triggered MVP discussions within the NFL community. The Baltimore Ravens won big in Week 7, with the quarterback delivering a sensational display, both passing and running.
Pat McAfee, on his show, asked Aaron Rodgers if he had noticed Lamar’s exceptional performance.
“Have you seen what Lamar’s doing? Have you seen any change, like from a quarterback brain to a guy that’s considered like the best thrower of football?”
The 4 time NFL MVP replied that he has always been a fan of the QB.
“I’ve been a fan of Lamar Jackson since he was in college,” Rodgers said.
Aaron Rodgers expressed his admiration for the 26-year-old, calling him possibly the fastest player on the field and a great passer.
“He’s possibly the fastest guy on the field every game and he throws it all over the place.”
Rodgers pointed out that the QB has previously won an MVP award and is a remarkable player.
“The guy has won MVP. Sometimes we forget about who Lamar Jackson is. He’s a hell of a player.”
Aaron Rodgers is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league. So, if he is praising someone, that praise holds weight, and Lamar Jackson has proved that in his recent few performances.
Lamar’s success prompts Stephen A. Smith’s change of heart
The sudden success of Lamar Jackson has also changed Stephen A. Smith’s perspective about him. Just two weeks ago, after a disappointing loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Smith questioned whether the Ravens QB was worth his substantial five-year, $260 million contract.
He clearly said that Lamar is not worth his contract and he needs to do better. In a surprising twist, Smith changed his stance without explicitly acknowledging the contradiction.
Smith has now started praising Lamar’s recent performances, specifically after the win against the Detroit Lions. He affirmed that the Raven QB is indeed worth his contract.
Some fans were left puzzled by Stephen A. Smith’s contradictory remarks, but he is not someone to blame for it.
