Canelo Alvarez picked up a flawless unanimous decision win in his last outing against John Ryder which took place in his hometown Guadalajara in Mexico in May. Following this win, the undisputed super middleweight champion called out rival Dmitry Bivol for a rematch as he wanted to avenge his loss.
However, Saul is finding it difficult to find an opponent for his next fight after Bivol denied the Mexican’s idea of a rematch. The super middleweight champion’s teams were also in talks with Badou Jack for a possible fight. But Jack rejected the idea as the Mexican boxer’s terms didn’t match his expectations.

Canelo Alvarez had it all planned out for the year 2023 after undergoing surgery last year. The Mexican champion wanted a tune-up fight which he got in the form of John Ryder and thereafter wished for a rematch against Dmitry Bivol. The rematch was on the cards as Bivol initially showed interest.
But after watching Canelo beat Ryder, the Ukrainian light heavyweight champion ruled out any possibility of a rematch next. Bivol revealed that he wants to fight Artur Beterbiev in an undisputed light heavyweight title fight and has no plans of fighting Saul especially if it’s not for the title.
“Why should I even do the rematch at 175? What is the challenge or what is the motivation for me if I’ve already beaten him at that weight class? And I don’t think we should worry about who thinks what. It’s really about what we want, what each of us wants. And for me, there should be some motivation and some challenge.”

With Dmitry Bivol denying Canelo Alvarez an opportunity for a rematch, the Mexican superstar has moved on to other options. According to reports, Saul will now face Jermell Charlo in September after signing a new three-fight deal with PBC.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian light heavyweight champion is back in training as he posted a video on his social media account. Bivol’s wish is to fight Beterbiev and unify the titles. But there are complications in this matchup as the WBC has made it clear that they are against the matchup due to the ongoing war between the two countries and the belt won’t be on the line if the two parties agree to a fight.
Apart from the Russian champion, Dmitry is open to moving down the weight class and fighting for the titles. He has shown interest to fight David Benavidez at 168 and is also ready to fight Jermell Charlo if he defeats Canelo in his next bout.
