After Packers legend Aaron Rodgers’ departure, RB AJ Dillon lavishes praise on QB Jordan Love ahead of next NFL season

The Green Bay Packers’ new starting quarterback Jordan Love appears to be working in full swing to fill the void left by the legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The team’s front office and players including running back AJ Dillon seem to be pushing constant booster doses on him to try and ensure a successful transition period.

Rodgers campaigned with the Packers for a prolonged 18-year tenure. Following his blockbuster trade to the New York Jets, the Packers are now strongly banking on Jordan’s caliber to continue shining in the league. Hence, the franchise is leaving pretty much no stone unturned to make their new QB1 feel optimistic ahead of the new NFL season.

AJ Dillon hails Jordan Love

During an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Dillon said Love has already earned the trust of the locker room. He said Love is so adored by his fellow teammates that everyone looks ready to shine in offense with him,

“I think he definitely has all the intangibles. He’s earned the trust of the locker room. Guys respect him. Guys wanna play for him. Guys wanna help him as much as they wanna help themselves.”

The RB also stated that their squad is rooting highly for this QB and they could go to almost any extent to support him,

“Nothing’s perfect in football, everybody knows that. I think he’s got a lot of support. Everybody would run through a wall for him.”

Both the Packers’ RB and new QB were drafted during the Covid pandemic and hence, they enjoyed only a few rookie workouts and interactions. The duo shared no virtual training camps nor any pre-season, albeit they surprisingly bonded over Pokémon and sports cards. With a chit-chat with Wes Hokdiewicz of Green Bay’s website, Dillon said he always wished Jordan to get what he cherished,

“Aside from a teammate, I’m a big fan of his. I want him to be great. I want him to go out there and do everything he’s ever dreamt of, and he can. He’s been a great leader for us throughout these OTAs.”

Can Jordan Love fill the gap left by Aaron Rodgers?

A-Rod has been the starter for Green Bay since 2008 after getting drafted with the 24th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. After taking over the space left by the Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre, the 39-year-old had been the starter for the Packers for 15 years. So, how could the franchise decide to let a 24-year-old QB take such a veteran’s place?

Jordan Love

Well! The Utah native might have earned the trust of the Packers by improving his records from 2021 to 2022. He recorded a 58.1 completion percentage, averaged 11.4 yards per completion as well as amassed two touchdowns to three interceptions throughout six matches in 2021. In 2022, he outshined his previous self by increasing the records to 66.7%, and 13.9 yards throughout four games.

The Packers seem to be banking on this very record. Even their wide receiver Romeu Doubs said he doesn’t see a “big difference” between working with Green Bay’s former QB and current QB,

“When you go from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan, Aaron was a really great quarterback, but I believe Jordan can do the same exact thing. So I don’t really see what’s the big difference.”

Jordan Love

Aaron made a successful transition from the Favre era. Love’s upcoming seasons could prove if he too can do the same.

The Green Bay team has three pre-season games in August against the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots as well as the Seattle Seahawks before facing the Chicago Bears in the Week One opening match.

Will Jordan be able to live up to the high expectation of his team? What do you think? Let’s talk below!
