After victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko, Undisputed champ Devin Haney drops promoter Bob Arum and turns free agent

Devin Haney has declared himself a free agent, despite the fact that it has only been a few days since his victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko. The Dream has cut off connections with his promoter Bob Arum as he appreciated Haney’s Ukrainian opponent.

What went wrong between Bob Arum and Devin Haney?

Bob undoubtedly put out a lot of effort to make Haney’s fight a success, but the fight’s outcome has generated a great deal of criticism. Following the fight, the Top Rank CEO approached Loma and his manager, Egis Klimas, to express his gratitude and to tell them that they had won the fight. Haney could not possibly have reacted well to it.

Therefore, “The Dream” made the decision to ridicule Bob on Twitter. The undefeated boxer tweeted that he had been watching his promoter during the fight and had noticed Bob dozing off. Haney, however, also asserted that he did not extend his contract with Top Rank.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada hosted the highly anticipated lightweight boxing match between Dream and Loma this Saturday night. Scores of 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113 gave Haney a controversial unanimous decision victory.

Who’s the next big opponent for ‘The Dream’?

Since Haney declined to sign a new deal with Top Rank, it is uncertain who he will face in the ring next. But there’s a good chance Shakur Stevenson will be his next adversary if he continues to proceed with Bob’s promotion.

Devin Haney was challenged by Shakur Stevenson for the next major test after successfully defending his undisputed lightweight title. Shakur enjoyed the 12-round duel between Dream and Loma from the ringside. The two-division champion is currently eager to grab Haney’s 135-pound title.

In addition to Shakur Stevenson, Haney might be given the opportunity to face Keyshawn Davis, Josh Taylor, Teofimo Lopez, or Arnold Barboza Jr. if he extends his contract with Top Rank. Meanwhile, Stevenson might next face Rolando Romero if he chooses Eddie Hearn as his promoter.
