Aidan O’Connell Takes Responsibility for Final Seconds’ Snap Mess-up in Raiders’ Loss

The Raiders’ Black Friday clash turned sour with a tough loss to the Chiefs. Despite a strong showing, a bad snap in the last minute ruined their chance to win. Aidan O’Connell, the quarterback, stepped up and took full responsibility for the costly mistake that ended their chances of winning.

Aidan O’Connell’s early clap caused a missed snap with only 15 seconds left in the game, allowing the Chiefs a 19-17 win over the Raiders. O’Connell almost had another big moment at Arrowhead Stadium, but he wasn’t able to save the game.

It was a tough loss and a close call, and O’Connell talked about how he felt after the game. He admitted that the error was entirely his fault. “It’s completely my fault,” O’Connell said.

“I was looking out to the right and trying to make sure guys were set and I started clapping. In my head I was thinking signal the ball to get the ball but when I start clapping that tells Jackson that he should snap the ball,” he explained.

O’Connell explained that Powers-Johnson did his job right, and the mistake was all on him. He said, “Jackson did exactly what he should have done. I clapped too early and that’s how the football bounces some time….there’s nobody to blame but myself.”

Chiefs clinch playoffs with win over Aidan O’Connell’s Raiders

Heading into Week 13, no NFL team had made the playoffs yet. But on Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) won 19-17 against the Las Vegas Raiders and became the first team to make the 2024 playoffs.

The Chiefs needed just two things: the Dolphins to lose to the Packers and a win over the Raiders. With the Dolphins’ loss on Thanksgiving, Kansas City sealed the deal.

This was a big moment, as the Chiefs became the first team in 26 years to make the playoffs with five weeks still left in the season. The game ended with the Chiefs recovering a botched snap by Aidan O’Connell, securing their 10th straight playoff spot.
