Getting into the Hall of Fame is a big deal for any wrestler. AJ Styles recently received an offer to join the TNA Hall of Fame. However, he ended up turning it down. Many fans thought WWE stopped him from accepting it, but Styles made it clear that wasn’t true.
TNA wanted to honor AJ Styles, a key figure in their early success, by inducting him into their Hall of Fame. However, news broke that he had withdrawn from the honor.
Many fans wondered why Styles said no, and some got upset with WWE, thinking they influenced his choice. However, Styles said the decision was his and unrelated to WWE.
He has addressed the confusion surrounding his decision to turn down an induction into the TNA Hall of Fame. He explained he turned down the Hall of Fame induction because he has not retired yet.
Styles took Twitter and noted, “I’m still an active wrestler…I hope. I made the decision not to go into the TNA HOF, not WWE. I appreciate TNA, but I don’t want to go into any HOF as long as I’m still active. My choice.”
Even though he isn’t retired yet, there were plans for his retirement storylines. Sadly, a leg injury got in the way of those plans.
Why AJ Styles isn’t competing in the ring
When AJ Styles returned to SmackDown on October 4, 2024, it was an immense moment for WWE fans. Unfortunately, just minutes into his match against Carmelo Hayes, he suffered a legitimate leg injury that ended his comeback early.
Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that AJ is frustrated with his injury. He wanted to start a storyline for a farewell tour or retirement tease, but now that plan depends on his recovery. There’s no clear date for when he’ll be back in the ring.
