An ex-Crimson Tide basketball player, Darius Milles, was sent to jail after being accused of killing a 23-year-old young single mother after getting drunk near the Alabama University campus on January 15.
The 21-year-old was present at the bar called ‘The Strip’ at the same time the victim, Jamea Jonae Harris, was passing quality time with her cousin and boyfriend. Later that night, she was gunned down by Michael Davis in the Alabama University campus area.
However, after over a month of thorough investigation, the police found evidence of another couple of entities’ direct involvement in the shooting incident.
Who else was involved in the shooting incident?
The person who pointed the finger around the trigger in the initial investigation was Miles’ companion, Davis, who allegedly handed the gun to the shooter and was charged with capital murder for his role.
However, the new evidence suggests there was another Alabama basketball team player, Brandon Miller, and Jaden Bradley present in the area. Darius allegedly texted Brandon to bring a gun, and the player provided him with the murder weapon.
However, despite there being a direct link to the crime, the police didn’t charge Miller in the case. Tuscaloosa County Chief Deputy District Attorney Paula Whitley stated that there was no demonstrable evidence to charge with.
The county district judge, Joanne E. Jannik, let the case go for grand jury indictment following the evidence presented and denied the bail request of the prime defendant.
According to defense attorney Mary Turner, Darius appeared defensively with Michael on that night. “The reason that the gun was provided to Michael Davis was for protection,” Turner said.
The 6.9-foot forward played in 27 games as a freshman for the Crimson Tide, scoring 18.7 points per game. He is one of the top five projected picks in the 2023 NBA draft.
What do you think of Brandon Miller? Shouldn’t Miller be charged as an accessory to capital murder as well? Leave your opinion with us in the comments.
