Alex Caceres wins plaudits in bone-shattering defeat from Giga Chikadze at UFC Singapore: “such a savage”

Giga Chikadze made his much-awaited return to the octagon yesterday at UFC Singapore. Chikadze last fought in January 2022 before yesterday in which he lost to Calvin Kattar by unanimous decision after battling it out for 5 long exhausting rounds.

Yesterday in the main card of Max Holloway vs. The Korean Zombie, Giga Chikadze fought Alex Caceres and it is safe to say the fight delivered. The Georgian put on a dominant striking display against Caceres. Well-known for his kickboxing skills, Chikadze got off to a bit of a slow start with Caceres actually dictating the pace early, which included a well-timed spinning back-fist that nearly caught the Georgian featherweight off guard.

Giga Chikadze was constantly beating Caceres to the punch in almost every exchange. By the end of the third round, Chikadze was picking Caceres apart as he secured the victory with all three judges scoring the fight 30-27 in his favor.

Giga Chikadze took to Twitter to post a picture of his opponent Alex Caceres in the hospital who suffered a broken left arm.

Not only this, but the Georgian also took a moment to reshare a post by Alex Caceres on his official Instagram account and commented “Props to Alex, such a savage. Staying in the fight till the last second, safe recovery brotha.”

The Georgian calls Yair Rodriguez out

In the post-match interview, after emerging victor against Alex Caceres. The Georgian called out Yair Rodriguez. “I want to fight in pay-per-view card in December,” Chikadze said in a post-fight interview with the UFC. “I’ve never fought on a pay-per-view card, and I know it’s going to be a huge show. I want to be there and I want to compete against ‘El Pantera’ Yair Rodriguez.”

“It feels so great. I can’t even explain, It’s been a pretty long time, and I felt like I was without a job. Finally, I got my dream job back, and I haven’t been so happy for a long time. So finally, we’re back baby … It’s been 15 minutes, and I feel like every second I looked great, and I’m pretty happy after one-and-a-half year layoff with my performance.” Chikadze added.
