The 31st episode of The Ultimate Fighter is approaching fast. It’s the ideal opportunity to rewatch one of the most famous TUF fights between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva since the television reality show’s new season is only two days away.
This season, TUF will be televised on ESPN+ beginning on May 30 and running through August 15. This time, Michael Chandler, a former three-time Bellator Lightweight World Champion, and Conor McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion are going against each other as the head coaches.
Until the new season takes place let’s go back in time to TUF season 3 and relive the shocking yet exciting brawl between Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen!
What happened in TUF: Brazil 3?
The middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight fighters were sought after for The Ultimate Fighter 2014 season. Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva led the two teams in the edition where Globo was the network’s broadcaster.
Sonnen in this coaching season seemed out of his skin and genuinely wanted to help some youngsters grow into professional fighters. However, Silva did not have a similar approach as he was more concerned about his then-upcoming brawl with Chael. In the famous “Outside the Octagon” video, Sonnen tries to speak with Wanderlie, yet his attempts fail as Silva is eager to take him on then and there.
The conversation between the coaches starts when Sonnen asks, “Can’t we just talk? I want to say hello or good morning,”
“I don’t want to like you. I hate you,” Silva responds.
“But I don’t know the date,” Sonnen replies.” Can you just tell me the date?”
The rest is history with the two going at each other until their teams step between them and stop the famous brawl.
However, even after almost a decade, Sonnen’s rivalry with Silva is one of the most interesting rivalry happened in TUF. ‘The Axe Murderer’ took his rivalry with the American fighter to a new level while filming for The Ultimate Fighter.
The Ultimate Fighter 31: Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler
Ever since it was revealed that McGregor and Chandler will serve as coaches for the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter, fans of the Ultimate Fighting Championship have been wondering about wild actions from the “Notorious.”
The bar was rather high due to what The Irishman did when he went against Urijah Faber, a Hall of Famer, in his debut TUF outing. McGregor’s first appearance at the 22nd edition of TUF in 2015 was quite entertaining.
Fans of the UFC anticipate that Conor’s second coaching experience in TUF will be equally thrilling this time. The Irishman appeared enraged as he charged his rival coach Chandler in the cage in some of the viral footage. A clash between the two coaches is exactly what MMA fans are eager to witness when the show airs on ESPN+.
