All the New Technology That Will Be Used in the World Cup 2022

As we get closer to the start of the highly anticipated 2022 World Cup, many fans can wait to see what the national teams have to offer at this one-of-a-kind football tournament. The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is also set to become a revolutionary football event in many ways.

Apart from the fact that this is the first time the World Cup is to be held in the Arab world and the first one to take place in November and December. But, this football tournament will also feature some new technologies, which we will reveal and describe in this article.

Semi-automated Offside Technology

One of the biggest new technologies that are announced for the FIFA World Cup is the semi-automated offside technology. This revolutionary technology will act as a support to the referees, which will help them make fast, accurate, and reproducible offside decisions during matches.

It will have 12 tracking cameras set all around the stadiums apart from a sensor that is located inside the new Al Rihla ball. The semi-automated offside technology will alert the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), every time a player that is in an offside position receives the ball.

Bonocle: Access for the Visually-Impaired

At the 2022 World Cup, even visually-impaired football fans will get to enjoy the football matches thanks to the revolutionary product called Bonocle.

This new product will convert digital content around the tournament into braille, which will allow visually-impaired fans to access and enjoy the World Cup content.

Bonocle will allow the blind community from all around the world to experience the beauty of the World Cup in 2022, in ways that weren’t available in the past. This product will improve their ability to move around Doha, with more freedom to interact and navigate, and with fewer restrictions.

A Revolutionary World Cup Ball

Another innovative product that is set to appear during the 2022 World Cup is the Al Rihla, the official match ball of the tournament.

Apart from the best ball that will feature at this major football event, the bettors can also get to enjoy the best World Cup 2022 bet offers, with multiple free bet offers placed at their disposal.

The new match ball features connected ball technology, which will provide the VAR officials with real-time data. This revolutionary technology will collaborate with the semi-automated offside technology, which we mentioned earlier, so the referees can make better and faster decisions.

Al Rihla will feature the new Addidas Suspension System, which will be located at the centre of the ball and will include a motion sensor. For the first time in the history of the World cup, a match ball will feature such technology.

Advanced Stadium Cooling Tech

Seven of the total eight stadiums that will be available for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will feature Advanced Cooling Technology. This is yet another revolutionary technology that will keep the stadium’s atmosphere cooled.

As the weather in Qatar during the 2022 World Cup can be very hot for football matches to take place, it is crucial to keep the atmosphere inside the stadiums at an optimum temperature. This new cooling tech will do exactly that, which will be much appreciated by the players and the fans.

The only stadium that won’t feature this new technology is Stadium 974, which, thanks to its location near the coast, will be naturally ventilated.

Near every stadium, there will be an energy centre, from where cooled water will be brought in a pipeline to the featured stadium.

Fully Dismountable Stadium

One of the newly constructed 2022 World Cup stadiums might not exist after the football tournament is over. We are talking about Stadium 974, which was opened on the 30th of November 2022, and is a fully dismountable stadium.

This stadium was constructed using modular steel frames and shipping containers, and its amazing design makes it visually appealing to the fans. It also ensures cost effectiveness, as fewer materials were used in its construction when compared to a standard football stadium.

Stadium 974 will host seven World Cup matches, but only up to the Round of 16 stages. After that, this stadium might be fully dismounted.
