The tw0-day epic between the tennis legend, Andy Murray and new age star, Stephanos Tsitsipas resumed after the All England Club curfew hiatus. On day one, fans were left with a cliffhanger after 3 power-packed sets with monstrous power from both sides. The level of back and forth between these two was extremely intense and one could barely edge out the other in the tiebreakers.
Former world number 1 and the current world number 5 had a very close run on day one. While Muzza needed one more set to take the win on the second day but the Greek wasn’t going to make that easy.
Stefanos Tsitsipas defeats Andy Murray at Wimbledon second-round
The 24-year-old Greek tennis professional, Stephanos Tsitsipas has played the Championships 5 times and has not once gotten past the 4th round. With his smart volleying and variation in rallies, he looks able to evidently survive and fight till the very end of long games.
In the first round, Tsitsipas defeated his Austrian friend on tour, Dominic Theim in a five-set match with 3 tiebreakers! This time, he went up against the 36-year-old tennis icon, Andy Murray in the second set.
This duo was constantly closing up on each other and so the match lasted for 4 hours 40 mins, over 2 days. Although Andy Murray has a much lower rate of error in this match, the Greek hit 90 winners to defeat Muzza in the two-day epic.
Tsitsipas will now go up against the Serbian player, Laslo Djere in the third round.
Andy Murray unsure about his return to Wimbledon next year
Many fans could see through the disappointment and dejection that Andy was in during the press conference after the second round. He sat through the press conference with his hands on his forehand half of the time and the frustration that the tennis legend was in, was quite heartbreaking for a lot of tennis fans.
During the conference, Andy also realized that he lost one point due to an incorrect call by the line and chair umpire. To lose a point in a match that close because of a wrong call can leave one in complete agony. The already disappointed Muzza was left devasted after he learned about this silly mistake by the umpires in such a prestigious event.

When asked if he will be back next year, Andy simply said, “I don’t know.” He expressed that motivation is a key factor and early losses such as in the second round of major titles, do not exactly help with staying motivated.
Such decisions take a lot of factors into consideration and Andy is confident that he is also a top player. Even though he is demotivated The Brit does not plan to stop playing tennis right now!
