Last season they were so close to winning the League, but a last-minute surge from Manchester City snatched the title away from them.
In order to bolster their squad a bit more so that they could go all the way this season, the club signed young talents like Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and David Raya. But recent reports suggest that new signing Kai Havertz’s time at Arsenal might be close to over with the club not satisfied with his performances this season.

Arsenal has been doing pretty well this season, sitting 3rd in the league table tied on points with the 2nd placed Manchester City, and just 2 points behind the league leaders Liverpool, whose manager recently took a sly dig at the reported new Blue card rule. But the performances have not at all been close to the level they were performing at last season despite making big signings in the recent summer transfer window.
Many pundits and fans have criticized former Chelsea player Kai Havertz for the recent bad performances of the team stating that the German player misses too many chances in front of the goal. Although there has never been any lack of trust or support from the Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for the German player, recent sources have claimed that the club is now losing patience with the player underdelivering consistently.
Recent reports have expressed that the club is unimpressed by the 24-year-old and is already considering selling the player in the upcoming transfer window, even though the manager himself has defended the player on many occasions in the post-match conferences this season.
These facts make the reports contradicting and it could well mean that it’s the higher-ups who think that the player is not delivering at the level of the 75 million euros signing that they paid to bring him last summer from Chelsea, who are in the race to sign Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton this season.
Even though there have been many noises about Havertz underdelivering, his numbers with 5 goals and 1 assist say otherwise considering the player is mostly deployed as a CAM by the manager of his team.
Arsenal’s ideal replacement for Kai Havertz
Seeing the numbers and the position the player has played mostly this season, Kai Havertz in no way looks to be underperforming with his coach defending him as well on many occasions. Still, the player has been reportedly looked to be sold in the upcoming summer window.
Sources claim that the club management has already identified the specific player to target as the German’s replacement if he is sold in the summer. According to reports from Football London, Kylian Mbappe could be an option for the Arsenal side as the player still doesn’t have a fixed destination after his contract with PSG expires at the end of the season. But the signing still looks unlikely to happen with many big European clubs behind him.
But what seems likely is the signing of Ivan Toney from Brentford. The 27-year-old has been continuously linked to Arsenal in the last few months and the speculations have been increasing day to day. Recent reports have stated that Arsenal is in a good position to sign the Brentford striker who could help them score more goals. Speaking to CaughtOffiside, the reputed journalist Rudy Galetti expressed:
“Brentford knows that they will not be able to keep the English striker in the summer and are ready for an auction. Thomas Frank and the board at the West London club are currently evaluating proposals from various suitors that start from around £55million.”
“From Toney’s perspective, he is absolutely ready for the big leap to a top Premier League club. He’s been followed for a long time by Manchester United, even though they preferred Rasmus Hojlund last summer.”
“The Red Devils will have competition for his services, however, with Arsenal now well positioned to be able to make a tempting offer to both the Bees and the striker. These statements have come to light at the right moment and it seems a big move for Brentford player Ivan Toney is already loading in the scripts for the upcoming summer window.
