It is for this reason that fans are desperate for transfer news, in order to build on the gains made so far and with few hours to go until the close of the transfer window, we shall be having a summary of all the latest Arsenal transfer news.
Jorginho will not join Arsenal this summer
One of the longest-running themes at Arsenal this summer has been their search for a midfielder and having been linked with the likes of Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar, Chelsea midfielder Jorginho emerged as a shock target for the Gunners, with Arteta said to be a fan of the Italy international from his time as Manchester City assistant manager.
The 28-year-old had initially been on the Chelsea transfer sales list, having struggled in Lampard’s first season in charge but he has so far been a key player this season and will not be departing Stamford Bridge.
This sees speculation over his move to the Emirates all but ended and the former Napoli man is set to remain with Chelsea for at least another one year.
Matteo Guendouzi joins Hertha Berlin on loan
Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi will join German side Hertha Berlin on loan after agreeing terms with the Bundesliga outfit.
The 21-year-old joined the Emirates side from Lorient in 2018 and quickly became a fan favorite following his tireless and energetic displays at the heart of midfield and many believed he would become the Vieira replacement that the club has been hoping for since.
However, a major row with Mikel Arteta post-lockdown last season saw the France Under-21 international frozen out of the squad after he refused to apologize for his antics in the defeat to Brighton.
Guendouzi is yet to make an appearance for the north Londoners since then and was put on the transfer list, pending when a buyer would come forth and discussions were held with the likes of Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain.
It appears that he is about to bring his impasse at Arsenal to an end by joining Hertha Berlin and will spend the rest of the season on loan at the Olympiastadion, although it is understood that an obligation to buy would not be included in the offer.
Lucas Torreira transfer set to be announced, dependent on other factors
Lucas Torreira is set to join Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid and the deal would be announced before the close of the day.
The 24-year-old is currently in Spain and has reportedly completed his medicals but the deal has not been officially announced because Los Colchoneros are trying to sell one more player in order to comply with LaLiga’s transfer regulations.
Niko Kalinic and Alvaro Morata have already departed the club but Atletico are looking to sell one more player, with the likes of Hector Herrera, Thomas Lemar, and Thomas Partey all linked with moves away from the Wanda Metropolitano.
Arsenal have been linked with both Lemar and Partey and the departure of Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi will leave them short of numbers in midfield, further highlighting the need for a new signing in the middle of the park.
Bosnian left-back Saed Kolasinac could also be on his way to Bayer Leverkusen, with Arsenal pushing for a sale for ÂŁ12m.
