Charlotte Flair and Asuka are pioneers of the Women’s Evolution in WWE, as both superstars significantly elevated the Women’s Division. They have achieved great success in WWE and are likely candidates for a future Hall of Fame induction.
Throughout their careers, they have faced each other multiple times and are currently involved in a storyline with Io Shirai, with both eyeing Shirai’s WWE Women’s Championship. Ahead of their triple-threat match at Fastlane, Charlotte posted a picture on social media that was a blast from the past.
Charlotte Flair reminds fans of the ex-tag team champs
Charlotte Flair and Asuka have a lot of history in WWE with the two feuding with each other multiple times in their careers and also teaming up to win the Women’s Tag-Team Championships. After being written off television so she could undergo surgery, a returning Charlotte Flair was the surprise tag-team partner of Asuka, with whom she defeated Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler to win the tag-team gold.
The win made her the fifth Women’s Triple Crown Champion and fourth Women’s Grand Slam Champion. With Asuka also being the WWE Women’s Champion, both were dominating the scene as Queens of Tomorrow. Although plans were for both the tag-team Champions to face each other for the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania, Charlotte couldn’t perform at the event due to COVID-19 infection.
Charlotte has come under fire recently for not being up to the mark in the ring. The Empress of Tomorrow recently reacted to a picture shared by the Queen as Asuka and Charlotte team up once again to go against Damage CTRL on the next episode of SmackDown.
Asuka, Iyo Sky, Charlotte to square off at WWE Fastlane
With the two women battling and teaming up multiple times, there’s a lot of history between the two. Charlotte Flair handed Asuka her first loss in WWE in over 2 years. The decision of ending the streak was criticized by the WWE Universe as Charlotte didn’t need the win, being a 16-time World Champion. Iyo Sky became the WWE Women’s Champion after cashing it during SummerSlam, in which Asuka lost her title.
Despite having to battle each other in a huge Triple Threat Match the very next night, Charlotte Flair and Asuka will need to be on the same page in their fight against WWE Women’s Champions Iyo Sky and Bayley. At WWE Fastlane, Sky will put her Women’s Championship on the line against The Queen and The Empress of Tomorrow in an enticing Triple Threat Match.
It is Bayley who has been causing some tensions in Damage CTRL and even unofficially made the match at Fastlane a Triple-Threat, reducing the chances of Iyo Sky retaining even slimmer.
