After Barcelona’s capture of Vitor Roque from Atletico Paranaense, speculations surrounding Ferran Torres’ future as a ‘culer’ have started and the picture seems to be blurry for the Spanish international. Vitor Roque joins the team in January and adds himself to the long list of attackers, leaving the roles of players like Torres’ in uncertainty.
On the other hand, Joao Felix has hit the ground running after being back in Spain and has been one of their best players this season. Ever since he moved to Camp Nou, Felix has left the Barcelona board without any complaints about him. They want to make his signing permanent according to reports, but do not want to spend a huge amount. To make up the money required, Barcelona might need to let another of their star players go.
Ferran Torres expected to leave Barcelona
Barcelona signed attacker Ferran Torres from Manchester City for over €60 million two years ago, but the 23-year-old has not convinced a lot yet. Torres was a marquee signing during one of Barcelona’s toughest financial cycles in 2021, which portrays the gravity of the deal back then. However, Torres’ statistics, coupled with his salary, are not something the board would enjoy.
Barca, in need of attacking prowess, have landed Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque for €30 million, who expects to be in the starting lineup right away. This signing would most likely push Ferran Torres out of the team, as the Catalan club needs to skim their wage bill to register Vitor Roque.
Ferran Torres has only 19 goals in his 90 Blaugrana appearances and has scored only three goals in the league this season. Such alarming stats might not favor him in his hunt for a new club, as Barcelona expects to offload him in January.
Barcelona want Joao Felix but will not overpay
On the contrary, Joao Felix has settled in right away in the Blaugrana colors, scoring five goals and assisting three times this season. Fans have already started to like him as a Culer, ignoring the fact that he is on loan from one of the Catalan side’s direct rivals, Atletico Madrid. However, Joao Felix seems to have forgotten it too, and he has started speaking against his old suitors.
Although Barcelona wants to make Felix’s move permanent, they will have to climb a mountain to negotiate with a rival like Atletico. Barcelona are not willing to pay more than €25 million for Felix, which might be miles off the target that’d be set by Atleti.
However, reports also say that if the Felix deal doesn’t go through, Barcelona will look to get him on loan for another year.
