Bayern Munich unfortunately couldn’t get a hold of Joao Palhinha when the player’s transfer fell apart at the last minute of the transfer window. Palhinha was set to move to Germany to join the Bundesliga’s reigning champions but the transfer took an unexpected turn. The club’s manager Thomas Tuchel is not happy with his current midfield and needed a new addition to his roster.
Everything was set, the agreements were made the prices were decided, and the player even went to Germany for a medical test and photoshoot with Bayern Munich. The signing was 90% done and everyone believed that they would soon hear the news but it never came. Since Ryan Gravenberch will soon be leaving the club Palhinha’s addition would have proved beneficial for the club.
Thomas Tuchel talks on Joao Palhinha’s failed transfer
Joao Palhinha agreed on a deal worth €65 million with Bayern Munich but the transfer fell through at the last moment. The deal between his current club Fulham and Bayern was based on the condition that Fulham would get a player to replace Palhinha. Due to the Bundesliga transfer window closing six hours earlier than the Premier League’s, the club did not get enough time to find a replacement.

Thomas Tuchel expressed his disappointment in a recent interaction with the press: “I was sad because I knew how much Joao Palhinha wanted to join us and what the player would have given us. I don’t know what exactly went wrong.” he said. Some are hoping that the transfer may happen in the winter market of 2024 but there is no confirmation about that.
Joao Palhinha still playing at Fulham
For the time being Joao Palhinha is a Fulham player and he will remain there for some time. Palhinha may not appear for the club’s next game against Manchester City as he will be on his way to play for Portugal’s national team in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. It is no surprise that he is disappointed and the player showed that on his Instagram.
After the transfer failed changes were seen in Joao Palhinha’s Instagram account. He changed his profile picture from him in a Fulham Jersey to a photo of where he is wearing a Portugal kit. He also removed Fulham from his bio and started following Bayern Munich.
Fans have called his actions “Childish” and “Petulant” saying “Palhinha changing his Instagram picture/bio is pretty childish but mostly perplexing to me, what does it actually achieve apart from making him look petulant?”
Hopefully, he will get to play for Bayern soon, but for the time being, he will remain in the Premier League.
