The Cincinnati Bengals and their star quarterback, Joe Burrow, are closing in on a contract extension deal, but there’s no word on what’s going on between them.
As the third year of his rookie contract is passing by, Joe is now able to sign a long-term extension deal with the Bengals. In these three years, he has already proven his potential and established himself as the locker room leader, and it’s in the franchise’s best interest to not lose him.
So the new contract might give the NFL community quite a shake, and both parties aren’t willing to talk about it openly in the media.
Why is Joe Burrow keeping his silence?
The 26-year-old star has always been a bit shy about the media’s popularity and doesn’t like to feed the netizens with much. Moreover, this contract extension has all the ingredients to make him the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
The Bengals’ executive vice president, Katie Blackburn, also refused to give hints to reporters, saying, “I don’t know the pace, but we hope that there’s something that can get done. We sort of said we won’t talk about it much until there’s something to talk about.”
“At the end of the day, it’s what Joe wants. I think Joe’s got to be happy, and we’ve got to be happy. And hopefully we can be happy together,” Katie said regarding the low-key situation of the deal.

The Heisman Trophy winner also didn’t provide any comment regarding the matter, and there is now nothing to update in the contract details. The rookie contract was a four-year, $36.1 million deal, and this time he is eyeing taking much more cash home.
Burrow signed the deal after being picked overall first by the Bengals in the 2020 NFL draft, and since then he has thrown 82 touchdowns and made 32 interceptions with 68.2% of his passing completions for his three-year career in Cincinnati.
