The NFL free agency period has kicked off with a whirlwind of action. By next week, the focus will turn to the draft as teams get ready for the future.
Even though time is running out, there are still some big players who need new deals, like Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson. He is looking at trade options, with at least eight deals being discussed recently.
The Cincinnati Bengals are asking for a high price for Trey Hendrickson, including a first and third-round pick, which some teams think is too much. Because of this, they haven’t received any trade offers for the 30-year-old defensive end yet.
Per Dianna Russini, teams willing to pay Trey Hendrickson have found Cincinnati's demands "ridiculous" according to one GM 😳

The Bengals asking price may be high, but rightfully so for the all-pro with 35 sacks in two years. pic.twitter.com/a8WTnHzhPk
Hendrickson is still a very valuable player, especially after leading the league with 17.5 sacks last season. He could be one of the best players available to help a team win, like the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears, who are interested because of his great pass-rushing skills.
But if the Bengals stick to their high asking price, it could be harder to make a trade. They might need to adjust their demands to make a deal happen before free agency.
Ossai calls Trey Hendrickson a great mentor amid Bengals trade rumors.
As trade rumors surround Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson, his teammate Joseph Ossai has spoken out to praise Hendrickson’s impact on and off the field.
After signing a 1-year, $7 million deal on Friday, Ossai called Hendrickson a “great mentor” and said he hopes the Pro Bowl player stays with the team.
Joseph Ossai admits part of the problem in 2024 was a defense that didn’t buy in until last 5 weeks. Says Trey Hendrickson can still be a huge part of the solution. pic.twitter.com/NiWcxNpeCJ

Ossai said, “Selfishly, I’m praying they keep that special guy, because he’s a great guy, he’s a great mentor, he’s a great friend… Bengals are trying to help him and also do what’s best for them.”
As the Bengals go through this offseason, there is a chance that Hendrickson might leave. However, they still need to finish their negotiations before anything is decided because the asking price is really too high.
