Federico Valverde spoke about his future with Real Madrid as the Uruguayan midfielder has been linked with a move away to Chelsea in recent weeks.
In recent years, Federico Valverde has become one of Real Madrid’s most reliable players, helping them with his versatility and tenacity. His assist to Vini Jr was the one that won them the UCL in 2022.
So when recent reports that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino asked the club to go for him, many were skeptical. The midfielder has become an important part of the squad that many fans couldn’t believe the news.

Valverde has a long contract with the club, having signed a deal until 2027 two years ago. The release clause is set at an astounding 1 billion euro to showcase the value of the player.
Valverde first joined in 2016 from Uruguayan club Penarol for just 5 million euros. Since then, the 24 year old has been on an outstanding rise with the club, helping them win several titles, including multiple La Liga’s and a Champions League.
There are rumors that after the high-value transfer of Jude Bellingham from Dortmund, the club planned to sell Valverde. Madrid is currently blessed with a stacked midfield, which could see Valverde having fewer minutes. Furthermore, if the club wants to complete another expensive transfer of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain this summer, they may have to sell Valverde to raise the necessary funds.
But in an interview with ESPN Argentina, the Uruguayan clarified that he will stay in the Spanish capital. He said he wants to win more titles at the club.
“No, no… I’m at Madrid, trying to enjoy every moment and leave my mark on the best club in the world. I want to keep winning titles for Real Madrid fans.”
Valverde is currently valued at 100 million euros which means that Madrid will only listen to offers higher than that. Liverpool is said to have made a 60 million euro bid for the player, but it was instantly rejected. Liverpool is expected to arrive with a new, improved bid.

Statistically, Valverde had his best season for Madrid. He has 12 goals and 7 assists this season for the Los Blancos. Of those, 7 goals were in the league and two in the UCL. In total, he has had 18 goals and 15 assists after racking up 204 appearances in the last seven years.
Valverde offers more than goals and assists, however. His physicality in the midfield is considered his main valuable trait. This makes him a dangerous player, often winning balls with force.
The Uruguayan superstar is also very versatile, a rare profile in recent times. He can play anywhere in the midfield and now regularly shifts in the right winger position. He has also played in defense when required.
