Buffalo Bills all-pro safety Jordan Poyer remains an active name on and off-field matters and seems to love being connected with social welfare activities, hence recently he was on his way to arranging a charity golf tournament in Florida.
The tournament event was directed to raise money to work for the improvement of ECMC’s fitness center for adolescents in recovery services, however, the safety has to cancel the event for some political issues and his teammates came forward to support him during this hard time.
Why did Jordan Poyer cancel the event?
Poyer was much thrilled for the charity event as it was to team up tournament groups with some renowned players including Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis, New York Giants wide receiver Austin Proehl and Washington Commanders linebacker Cole Holcomb. Additionally, the event was scheduled to be held in the Bill players’ favorite courses in South Florida; the Blue Monster at Trump National in Doral.
However, Jordan’s favorite courses have turned into a night terror for him as after declaring the venue, the Bills’ safety had to tolerate many backlashes as its location is owned by Donald Trump. As a result, the main sponsor of the event ECMA refused to take part in the event while some golfers also withdrew their name from the charity event, leading it to be rescheduled until next year.
The 32-year-old stated his grief over the whole matter in an Instagram post detailing the main reason.
“I regret to inform you that my annual Golf Charity Event in South Florida, originally scheduled for July 10th at the Blue Monster at Trump National in Doral, has been rescheduled for next year. Unfortunately, the location of the event led to a few sponsors and golfers withdrawing at the last minute due to external pressures,” the message read.
“While it’s disappointing, I respect their decision. Nevertheless, we will persevere. Next offseason, we will host this event with unwavering dedication, ensuring that it remains free from any external distractions. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you,” he continued.
Teammates who offered their support
As the cancellation of the event was not so satisfactory for Jordan, some of his teammates stretched their hands to support him during such a hard time.
Bills star quarterback Josh Allen cited “Love you brother.”
Another teammate wide receiver Gabe Davis wrote “Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.. Be You.”
