Bobby Green and Grant Dawson entered the Octagon last night for their highly anticipated matchup. Green secured arguably the most significant victory of his MMA career by effectively knocking out the surging Grant Dawson.
Dawson, ranked 10th in the lightweight division, had amassed 11 wins and one draw in his last 12 fights. Nevertheless, Green emerged victorious with a stunning knockout just 33 seconds into the bout.
Bobby Green beats Grant Dawson
The main event of the UFC Vegas 80 wrapped up very quickly. Fighting out of the southpaw stance, Green fired a straight left hand that landed perfectly on the face. Dawson went down and Green quickly finished it with ground-and-pound. Green was pulled off by the referee and had won in just 33 seconds.
Bobby Green didn’t even realize what hand he used to knock Grant Dawson down. It was only after watching the replay with broadcaster and the UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier, that he realized what he’d done.
Green initially believed it was his right hand, but in reality, it was his left hand that delivered the knockout blow. Despite Dawson not being an extremely famous contender, he held the 10th position in the division. This victory marked a significant moment for Green, and he performed exceptionally.
Winning a fight with a knockout in under 30 seconds is a rare feat, which left Green emotional, realizing it had elevated his career to another level. Dawson had been dominating his opponents and had entered the bout with immense confidence and composure, making the win even more impressive.
Bobby Green’s winning streak continues
Bobby Green entered the Octagon with Grant Dawson with a three-fight winning streak and the King has extended the streak to 4 wins. After submitting Tony Ferguson in August, Green is now riding back-to-back wins at 155 pounds.
Green not only extended his winning streak but marked the end of Grant Dawson’s unbeaten streak as well. Dawson entered the contest sporting a twelve-fight unbeaten streak, which includes three straight victories under the UFC banner. In his most recent effort this past July, ‘KGD’ defeated Damir Ismagulov by unanimous decision.
In the post-fight interview with UFC hall of Famer Daniel Cormier, Green said that he won’t be calling anyone out, he will just fight whoever is put in front of him. Green continued to express his desire to become the most active fighter of 2023.
