There are millions of football fans out there, and every one of them has a player whom they idolize and admire. Argentine winger Lionel Messi has always been a fan favorite. People love him, and many go to great lengths to meet the G.O.A.T.
Unfortunately, it is not so easy to make contact with Lionel Messi, as David Beckham has personally hired Yassine Chueko, a former Navy Seal and a trained MMA fighter, to act as his bodyguard. Fans saw a glimpse of Yassine’s power when he stopped a pitch invader from reaching the Inter Miami star in a game against LAFC. A similar incident has happened once again, but it ended differently.
Preventive move ends in fan’s joyful photo session with Messi
Lionel Messi made a move to Inter Miami in the summer transfer window of 2023. Since Argentine arrived in Florida, he was assigned a bodyguard to protect him on and off the pitch. After being on a break for more than two weeks, the seven-time Ballon d’Or appeared in Inter Miami’s last match against Cincinnati. The club faced a defeat, but a little incident after the game made everyone smile.
After the match came to an end, a young boy was seen invading the pitch and running towards Lionel Messi. Yassine Chueko was as attentive as he always is, and he successfully stopped the fan in his tracks, pushing him away from the Inter Miami ace. After talking with the fan for a little while, Yassine realized his admiration for his idol and personally escorted him towards Messi.
The young one then took a selfie with his hero and also got him to sign his jersey. The moment was wholesome, and it definitely made the fans smile.
Lionel Messi’s return marred by defeat
The last time Inter Miami saw a victory was on September 21, when they defeated Toronto FC with a score of 4-0. Lionel Messi sustained an injury in that game and was taken to the sidelines. The club was having a tough time on the pitch without their primary striker. Fans were hopeful that things would improve once their ace player returned, but that is not the case.
Inter Miami’s hopes of qualifying for the playoffs were already thin, and the chances are now extinct. Despite Lionel Messi’s return, the club failed to score a goal and kept Cincinnati out of their net. Cincinnati midfielder Alvaro Barreal found the back of the net in the 78th minute, giving his club a one-goal lead. Miami failed to retaliate, and they are now out of the playoff race.
Inter Miami’s defeat may turn out to be beneficial for Barcelona fans, as rumours are spreading that the 2022 World Cup winner may return to Camp Nou now. Do you believe Messi’s fairytale return to Camp Nou will happen? Make sure to let us know in the comments.
