Ryan Garcia, after his devastating loss against Gervonta Davis in April of this year, got himself in a shell, and many boxing fans believed the first loss of KingRy would be a decline in his professional boxing career.
But recently, Garcia proved why he was so dominant prior to that fight in April. After finishing Oscar Duarte, Ryan got his pride back, and now, ignoring his rematch against Davis, the former interim champion is looking to put his hands on the real belt. Some negotiations have already started with the current boxing champion.
Ryan Garcia to start negotiating a mega fight with Devin Haney
After getting no interest from Davis, Ryan Garcia, moving forward, is negotiating with Devin Haney. Haney also recently received praise from Garcia for winning his championship bout against Regis Prograis. KingRy’s eyes are on the WBC super lightweight title this time. Both fighters have shown their interest in this bout, and both team members are negotiating the terms.
After watching the Domination of “The Dream” against Prograis, impressed Ryan Garcia immediately went on social media, declaring his interest in fighting the WBC super lightweight champion next year.
Ryan wrote in his tweet, “I’ve advised my team to contact team Haney to discuss and make the fight happen between Devin and me, #GarciaHaney,” admitted to being in talks with Devin’s team for their potential match-up.
Later, Haney also confirmed in reply to the tweet, “These are facts.” Now the fans are looking excited about this matchup, but they are also not happy with his ex-opponent.
The boxing community reacts to the Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney matchup
Even after securing the KO win against KingRy, Gervonta Davis also doesn’t look interested in a rematch so far. Fans are praising Ryan Garcia for his decision but also criticizing Gervonta Davis for not showing any interest in fighting Haney or Garcia.
One of the fans praised Ryan’s confidence, saying, “At least Ryan got the balls to fight Haney; Tank will keep ducking…” referring to how Davis is dodging the bouts.
One of the fans looked superbly interested in how Garcia took the match and had faith in knockout power and speed.
Another fan came in with praise for 25-year-old Garcia and taunted the rehydration policy that Gervonta Davis asked to include in his match-up against Ryan Garcia on April 22nd.
Eddie Hearn also showed his interest in making up this bout in one of his interviews regarding his thoughts on a potential bout between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney. Hearn also explained that Gervonta Davis had no interest in the rematch.
Hearn said, “I just wanted to see if there was a chance to discuss that fight [against Davis]. He said, “No.” The reason I approached Gervonta Davis is that I want to make him a massive offer for the Devin Haney fight. But if he’s not interested in the fight or doesn’t want to discuss it, I just went back to Bill [Haney] and said, ‘This was his response.’ I think they’re frustrated as well. Talk is talk, but it would be good to have an honest conversation behind closed doors.”
Fans can expect to see the fight at the earliest as both fighters’ promotions are linked to the same broadcaster, DAZN.
