After spending 44 days in prison, Gervonta, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services to TMZ, has been released.
Gervonta recently emerged victorious over his long-standing rival Ryan Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area. Tank’s celebration of this significant triumph was short-lived as he got sentenced by the Baltimore City Circuit Court for his involvement in a hit-and-run incident.

Why was Gervonta Davis imprisoned? explained
In February of this year, “Tank” confessed to four traffic offenses he committed in 2020 during a court hearing at the Baltimore Circuit Court. Although no fatalities occurred in the collision, Tank has been found guilty of multiple traffic violations.
As part of the prosecution, a video was presented to the court showing Davis violating traffic laws while driving. According to the police report, the footage used as evidence clearly depicts the Baltimore native driving a Lamborghini Urus SUV on his birthday without adhering to the required signal regulations.
The 28-year-old boxer ended up colliding with a Toyota Solara that was carrying four individuals, including a pregnant woman. In a video publicly released by WJZ, Davis can be seen damaging his Lamborghini and attempting to leave the scene quickly before the arrival of the police.
‘Discipline’ is a crucial part of pretty much all sports. For Gervonta, a boxer who has reached such levels of prominence, it is rather ironic to see such a lack of control over his behavior in his personal life.
