Parris Campbell began his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts in 2019. After playing four seasons with the team, last year he played with the Giants and was expected to continue with them for the next season as well.
However, the wide receiver has reportedly found a new home for the 2024 season during this free agency week.
Parris Campbell lands in Eagles with one year deal
Parris Campbell is moving from the Giants to the Philadelphia Eagles as he signed a one-year deal with the team. More details about the contract such as the money involved have not been disclosed yet.
Campbell spent last season with the Giants but his contract expired on March 13. The team had the option to offer him an extension but this is not what both parties agreed on.
While the WR could have joined any other team in the league he opted for one of his former team’s divisional rivals, the Eagles. In Philly, Parris Campbell will also get the opportunity to play with his former teammate, Saquon Barkley, who recently signed with the Eagles.
The WR also expressed excitement about this new chapter in his NFL career by tweeting, “God is so good!”
The 26-year-old was a second-round pick in 2018, and during his career, he made 117 receptions for 1,087 yards and five touchdowns in 44 games (27 starts). Parris Campbell has also rushed 11 times for 108 yards and returned 15 kicks for 366 yards. However, his performance declined with the New York Giants.
Parris Campbell’s Giants run wasn’t as fantastic as predicted
In 2023, the New York Giants signed Parris Campbell on a one-year contract, guaranteeing him $2.9 million on an incentive-laden deal with the potential of reaching $4.7 million.
Unfortunately, the WR couldn’t justify this lucrative deal. Parris ended up catching just 20 passes and was inactive for the final five games.
Campbell’s role wasn’t satisfactory as he averaged just 5.2 yards per catch. While overall Parris Campbell has a good career record and is known as a talented WR, his performance with the Giants wasn’t fascinating enough to earn him an extension.
Probably this was the reason the team let him go and he became a free agent. However, now Parris Campbell has joined the Philadelphia Eagles and hopefully, he will improve his performance with his new team.
The Eagles have a strong roster for the upcoming season as the team made sure to sign great talents this time. It will provide Campbell an opportunity to show his full potential.
