Athletes are usually expected to be in peak physical shape especially while they’re active, however, that isn’t always the case. Recently, the Denver Broncos starting quarterback Russell Wilson’s weight became a topic of discussion following Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tariq Woolen’s subtle dig at the QB’s physique.
Since then, Wilson had been adamant about elevating his physical abilities to peak levels by hitting the gym hard. His recent workout video drew attention for its resemblance to a comedic scene from one of Ben Stiller’s movies, which may have been a source of entertainment for some but comes as a strong message for the naysayers.
Russell Wilson posted a workout video ahead of the new NFL season
On June 17, Denver’s second-year quarterback shared an intense workout video of doing a series of aerobic exercises captioned by, “All my life. #RestorationSzn”, tagging Philadelphia-based sports performance coach and fitness trainer John Shackleton.

The video went viral with many fans heaping praise on Sean Payton’s fellow student for his exceptional work ethic and determination to excel on the field. Many netizens were projecting Russell’s potential best performance in the upcoming season.
Last month, the ex-Seahawks QB said to the Denver media that he is feeling ‘lean and mean’ and ‘ready to go, and focused’, although he didn’t reveal how much weight he actually lost.
Following the first OTA practice, the football prodigy also disclosed the plan to enhance his strength, agility, and overall athleticism to bounce back from the devastating 5-12 record in the first season,
“I want to have the best offseason of my life. I want to be the best version of me and I’m looking forward to the work of it all and doing that.”
Wilson’s resilient response to Ben Stiller’s comparison
ESPN earlier shared a hilarious Instagram post comparing Wilson and the American actor Ben Stiller’s role from the movie Heavyweights with the caption “Uncanny resemblance 🤣” with a comment on the post saying, “That first workout was the same thing Ben Stiller had them kids doing in Heavyweights 🤣🤣.”
The comparison came as the Broncos the 34-year-old star was doing the exercise on a sliding board to maintain balance and the renowned Stiller’s character used to do the same thing to train the kids in the movie.
However, the star signal-caller didn’t hesitate to address the situation head-on and tweeted a powerful message emphasizing his unwavering focus to shine bright on the field.

“God is in control of it all! The good days and the bad ones! Keep trusting”, the tweet said.
Refusing to dwell on the past following a disappointing first season and finishing at the last spot in the AFC West, Wilson looks all set for a successful comeback for Denver under Payton’s strict guidance and his unwavering focus on physical fitness and mental preparation is signaling a potential good season.
