Danielson’s team won that match with Castagnoli pinning Cassidy at the end. But during the match, Danielson took both an orange punch and a rainmaker clothesline, requiring treatment outside the ring.
As the show ended, Okada taunted Danielson, who was still recovering on the apron. The American Dragon and Okada have been feuding since Danielson’s victory at Forbidden Door, which led to a confrontation and Okada breaking the arm of the American Dragon during that bout. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Danielson hinted at his wrestling future, saying that he will step away from being a full-time wrestler next year. Brian Alvarez also supported the idea by adding that since NJPW sent Okada to AEW for a significant event, AEW should reciprocate with the rematch idea.
