Twitter is a platform where people from across the globe share their thoughts and opinions- including celebrities and players from various industries. NFL players use the platform to engage with fans or reply to other players and critics.
This holiday season, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette shocked everyone with his tweet, which he deleted immediately afterwards, raising multiple questions in the Buccaneers camp and the NFL universe.
What was Leonard’s tweet?
The incident occurred on a cold Monday, just the day after Christmas. Fournette earlier was not happy with the critics who questioned his fitness and so addressing them, the running back tweeted-
“I hate when people be on here just talking saying I’m out of shape etc do y’all understand I’m playing with a lisfranc in my foot every week can barley push off my foot but through the Grace of God I’m going to keep proving y’all wrong…… #BucsWin”
With the tweet, Fournette revealed that he had a foot injury for quite a while now, and he had been playing with it. However, as he had deleted the tweet, it could be speculated that he did not want anyone to find out about his injury.
Why did Leonard delete his tweet?
Fournette, on Sunday, played for the Buccaneers against the Cardinals, where Tampa Bay once again won the game thanks to a team effort. However, even with the injury, Leonard was extraordinary -in the game, he rushed 20 times, running 72 yards with an average of 3.6 while also receiving nine catches in 90 yards. Moreover, he may have played his natural game, but due to his injury, he did not want to miss out on the fun, so he deleted the tweet to play games. Otherwise, his team will not allow him to play.
On the contrary, if the Buccaneers allow him to play despite his injury will cause mayhem amongst the fans and critics. At the same time, the opponents like the Panthers and the Falcons will discover his weakness and target him- this might have been the other reason for deleting the tweet.
