Bucks’ Guard Damian Lillard Out Indefinitely Due to Blood Clots in Right Calf

The NBA world, especially the Milwaukee Bucks community, recently received a massive shock as their All-Star guard, Damian Lillard, has been sidelined indefinitely after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his right calf.

The Bucks said that Damian Lillard is taking blood-thinning medicine, which has helped his condition. He will keep getting tests, but there is no set date for his return. The team said they will give updates when needed.

Lillard, who is 34 years old, last played on March 18 against the Golden State Warriors. A calf injury initially ruled him out of the following games. Meanwhile, his DVT comes as a big health concern for both him and the team’s hopes for the playoffs.

Bucks general manager Jon Horst said, “Doctors have indicated that his situation is very unlikely to occur again. We are thankful that this was identified and medicated quickly, which helps with the recovery.”

Damian Lillard gets candid about health setback

Damian Lillard has opened up about his recent health scare after being diagnosed with blood clots. The nine-time NBA All-Star told reporter Chris Haynes that he felt very unfortunate that this situation was out of his control.

Reflecting his gratitude towards the Bucks management for taking the necessary steps to diagnose him, Lillard added, “I’m grateful the Bucks acted quickly on this. They’ve been supportive and proactive throughout this process. I look forward to moving past this and continuing my career.”
